I owned Everything I Touch Runs Wild for about the same amount of time as I owned Patti Griffin's Flaming Red. As I recall there was one decent song on it and the rest was, I dunno, professional but nondescript. It's exactly what I'd expect Minnie Driver's album to sound like.

I don't even know what to say about that. Minnie Driver? Did you sell that album quickly too?
Anyhow, I stand by my opinion that she's a far better than average songwriter and recording artist.
As far as the sliding scale based on gender, I'm much tougher on chick musicians, but when I'm impressed I'm very impressed. Maybe it's cause so many of them suck really hard.
