I sang backing vocals on one of the songs of the new Raising the Fawn record. Their record launch is tonight so we had planned that I'd sing it live with them.

Thing is I've been pretty sick this week (sore throat, cough, meds, etc. as elaborated in my various self-pitying "sickie" threads this week)...

(I'm probably also nervous because I now haven't been on stage in 1 1/2 years)

But... I finally decided to just do it. I'll hobble through it. It would just be too sad to miss the opportunity.

Just needed to "share".

How did I suddenly get so nervous about singing backing vocals?

Thanks dude, that means a lot to me, especially right now.

In other news... the newly re-formed Marlowe (now called "Receivers") are apparently opening for Sam Roberts tonight in Montreal. Apparently they might even do a "cover" of a song off He Is There...

You're fabulous Polly. Make the nervousness work for you. Make it seem endearing and mysterious.

You'll be fine and nerves are good; and one day I will go back at least once and do a solo gig or my old band gig and hope it'll be ok and sure be glad I did it anyway when the time comes.

Who ever keeps coming up with the band names is doin' a good job.

I always forget to add the e-cons :rock it: girl :rawk:

Polly, what's the Fawn song you performed on?

Seeing them May 6 at the main hall.

Guillemots is also on that bill which I'm pretty pumped up about.

Receivers, heh? that just doesn't seems right to me.

Thanks, you bunch of sweeties. Yah'll rock, the support is much appreciated.

Well, I did it and it ended up going really well. It was a very inspiring show---made me remember what I love about music and playing music. Raising the Fawn were wicked and Andrew from BSS/Apostle of Hustle played a solo opening slot which was also amazing. (The album is equally great.)

Bah. The name was taken from what would have been the name of Marlowe's third record "Adjusting Our Receivers"... which is a quote from lyrics I wrote for a song that would have been on the album. I'm curious to see what they'll say when people ask where the name came from. Anyway...

The song's called "Until It Starts Again". I'm sure it will be a great show.

:)
