This guy I know who books shows at one of my favorite bars is stepping down and they are looking for a new person. I don't know if it will pay enough to be regular job, but I am excited. I'm hoping my years of working for an arena and booking shows while I was in college help me get it. A new job or just extra cash right now would kick alot of ass, plus this is the same club that recently had Tapes N Tapes.

Bump

So I finally heard back from the guy who is currently booking shows there, he and the owner want to meet with me tomorrow night. I'm going to have to sneak away from work for a bit for a quick meeting. I don't know whether I should ask one of my co-workers to fill in for an hour or just leave the building unattended for 15-30 minutes.

Have someone fill in.

Or have them meet you at your work. Hopefully they'll understand.

I left an email message for both of my co-workers. If I wasn't worried about one of the upper management folks staying late or see me walking downtown, I would have just snuck away, since nothing will happen.
We're doing some repainting/maintenance work this week, since we have no events booked, so I thought one person could work a few extra hours and leave at 7pm.
I'm only here to manage the building while roller derby practice takes place. It is unbelievably easy, but rather boring. I just sit by my comp and go watch punk girls skate every half hour or so as I check the building.

I want to give it up.
The Arena I work for is in horrible condition and the company that manages the facility has been trying to build a new arena near the minor league/University of Nebraska Baseball stadium for nearly three years.
There is some nepotism going on in my department and my primary boss is not someone I want to work for that much longer. I tried to become the ticket office manager/ticket master agent earlier this year, but they didn't want me to leave my current job.
I won't be quitting this position if the money booking shows and working at the bar aren't comparable, but since neither position offers benefits and have about the same level of stability. I'd rather work at the bar. I'd still get to hang with the roller derby folks, since the bar is one of the primary sponsors and held the after party for the inaugural roller derby.

I could probably work a few hours everyday doing office work and schedules at my current job, but that is only part of the workload required for my position.
I don't think my primary boss wants me to have a new job, yet alone a second job, so I'd probably be wise to leave when I could on good terms.

Nope, it is Duffy's Tavern, Knickerbockers has two guys who operate a production company within the bar handle all their shows.
All the shows where I would work are 21+, Knickerbockers does all ages shows from 6-9pm and 19+ from 9-close.

Can you actually live off of what they pay you to book this place? You'll get to deal with people like me all day.

That's the dead page, they created a different one last year.
I have to ask what the pay is before I quit here, but if I am able to supplement the pay with bartending there as well I will. I just want a new job that is fun for me, while I wait for my girlfriend to graduate.

Here is there new page:

I just got back from my interview. I thought it went well. I think the only strike against me is that I don't use publishing software on a regular basis. They told me it would be ok to continue working at my current job to supplement my income, since the old guy supplemented his hours bartending and doing other bar related task. I said I would do the same if they wanted me to.
Since I do my own schedule here, I could schedule shorter shifts and work fewer days if my boss allows it.

The owner went out of town with his family last wednesday and is going to be gone a little over a week according to an email I got friday. They are going to decide when he gets back. Hopefully, I will have news by tomorrow.
