For those of you who are weary of dropping the $40 for the whole box set, it looks like there are a few copies (originally intended for promotional purposes) of a 14-song sampler, available directly from:

www.aumfidelity.com

In case you didn't know, the box set was my #2 release of 2004 (right behind SMiLE) and Shrimp Boat features members that went on to form The Sea & Cake (Sam Prekop and Eric Claridge) and work with Liz Phair (Brad Wood).

Plus, I've had some correspondence with the label owner and he's really nice and doing the label for all the right reasons. So your money will be going to support a business that is worth supporting.

BUY IT! It's only $10 and comes PopTodd-approved.

Yes.
Although, it's less electronic. Just as experimental, but in a more organic way. A lot of genre-bending moments, combining world music, soul, appalacian folk, jazz, and whatever the hell else they feel like throwing in.

Their last two records are masterpieces.
Duende (1991)
Cavale (1993)

RIYL: The Sea & Cake, (early) Camper Van Beethoven, The Carter Family, Sun Ra, Violent Femmes

"Reissue" wopuld seem to me to be a misnomer, as most of that material had never been released before. Still, I'll take it for one of my favorite bands of all-time.
