There's a Church of Jesus Christ & Latter Days Satans in my neighborhood and they always seem to pester me. They always stop me and suggest I take a tour of their church. Well, I always politely say NO and go about my business.

Well recently, one particular boy has caught my attention. I don't know his name cause he won't tell me. He always says his name is Elder "Smith" and that makes me wanna pull my hair out. For some odd reason, they're all go by the same name, Elder.

Well, this particular Elder is very cute (personality-wise) and somewhat different from the others. We actually spend a lot of time together talking about life and what have you. I've told him I'm gay and it seems he's stopped trying to get me to join his church ever since. Instead, whenever he sees me in the street, he'd talk to me just like a normal person without ever bringing up his church.

Well, the other day, he saw me walking home and approached me. He just wanted to say hello and see if I were free this weekend. I asked him why, and he wanted to know if I wanted to catch a movie with him. He caught me a little off guard but I still said YES. As he walked away, he mentioned that he may even tell me his name.

Now, my question to you guys is, what does he really want? He seems like a really nice guy and hasn't even mentioned his church in weeks. He even has recommended some movies to me, which I rented on Netflix (one of them a movie about Mormons  ), and we've talked about everything and anything not having to do with religion.

Should I trust him or is this his way of brainwashing me?

Run! It's a trap!

They do the same thing to breeder [sic] males, but with the big-tittied, slender, blonde (basically, Nordic goddesses) Mormon chicks.

He's playing you, dog, for your money. (Literally, the tithe doesn't grow on trees.)

I don't think Mormonism is a cult or anything. You're probably safe. We've got two or three Mormons in my office and they're all perfectly normal nice people with sarcastic senses of humor and all that great stuff. Of course, the 23ish year old one is married and the 25ish year old one has three kids, so their lives are a bit sped up in that regard.

i had a very good friend who used to be intensely mormon and he came out in his early 20's and jumped ship. apparently the ranks of the mormons are loaded with cute, blonde homosexual men with good teeth.

listen to me:
he. wants. to. date. you.

which is fine if you feel like it, but expect a gorgeous closet case until and if he comes out when you can expect him up on a pride parade float in tightie whities and cowboy boots.

See, this is more of the impression I'm getting. I hate being horny. It fucks with your perception.

He wants to jump your bones, and then get you to go to church with him.

re: angels in america - there was an mormon guy on there that was totally gay and trying to supress it. i am sure it happens a lot in strict religions like that.

the guy is probably gay...at the very least he may be an allright person. Ihave quite a few friends who are mormons as there are a lot of them in Oregon.

Chris - would you have a problem if this guy were Catholic or Unity? I've had lots of Mormon friends throughout my life, growing up in the military, where there is a significant Mormon minority. Sure, some of the trappings of Mormonism - the missions, the history of their practices - seemed awfully strange to me as a kid, but so do particular elements of almost any other religion, be they of the post-Judeo strain or based from a the foot of a tree on the Indian subcontinent.

So. Go have fun man!

I don't think I would. I guess I'm a little jaded by the stereotype.

oh yeah, but he won't call it that because he may not realize he's queer.
the "problem"-if there's going to be one-will be with him being in the closet but we're getting way ahead of ourselves here.

go to the movies with him if you want. scope it out and check his driver's license to make sure he's legal tender.

I think a lot of people confuse Mormons and Jehovah's Witnesses, which is a bit unfair.

Has anyone read A Study in Scarlet, the very first Sherlock Holmes story? It's got a really warped view of Mormonism, and the American west in general. Kind of amusing.

no one's confusing anything. mormons have no place for homosexuals who are not into "reforming" in their religion which extends deeply into their lifestyle. get it? they don't like gay people.

Yeah, I should make it clear that this thread is strictly about the Mormon church and their views on homosexuality. Nothing else.

I wasn't referring to that. I was referring to Chris mentioning "the stereotype" and the talk of brainwashing and such.

Long as you can stand a little drama, Chris's threads are guaranteed quality.

I say go out with him and try to turn him to the "dark side" - of course, that's likely just my anti-religion skeptic streak talking. In the end, it'll probably be more trouble than it's worth.
