Anyone see it? I forgot that I tivo'd it last night and just watched...I think the folks who dislike the more "experimental" side of Wilco's recent output might be happy with this latest change in direction. Crazy seeing Nels doing country riffs...

Did they play a new song?

They did. It was poppy. I kept expecting them to break into "That Thing You Do." It was also good. Tweedy looked homeless.

I dug the song.

It's great to see George Wendt in such great shape.

Hahhaa regarding the George Wendt comment.

We watched last night and my first words upon seeing him were "holy crap he got even BIGGER!" But the guy is funny and awesome so oh well.

But the Wilco song was pretty good. Nice to hear something new and not so weird.

Tweedy did look homeless though, I agree with that statement.

Make no mistake: the homeless look is a cultivated one.

one of the highlights of seeing them live in the last year or so is seeing nels go from playing some of the most incredibly weird stuff ever on handshake drugs to those beautiful riffs he pulls out on sunken treasure.

so basically, wow.

great song. i don't get how anyone could not like this.

exactly right about it harkening back to an older wilco. this would have fit right in place on "summerteeth" or perhaps even "being there."

i knew the first time he did the "we can make it better" thing with only the band that he was going to try and have the audience sing along with that. he's been in love with that stuff for a while now.

basically, the song is just really simple and really great. it doesn't quite deliver on his promise of having listened to fela kuti and this record being more danceable, but we'll see.

This song is familiar. I wonder if they played it when I saw them in the fall.
