New album from The Futureheads!

PM me if you're interested in the full length. :D

Info:

The first single to be taken from ‘News And Tributes’ is ‘Skip To The End’, as with much of the LP, it’s brash, bold, strong and extremely catchy. Their use of four part harmonies has been expanded upon throughout the album, with lead vocals once again shared by Barry and Ross. The pace has slowed and the songwriting matured but the unique sounds and edgy-ness displayed on their debut are still paramount. “Our first album was made by giddy teenage boys but this one has been made by big strong men." (Barry Hyde)

You will not be disappointed with what you find on ‘News And Tributes’. It’s the album you might have expected The Futureheads to of taken another year to produce. Instead they enlisted the renowned production skills of Ben Hillier (Depeche Mode, The Doves, Blur etc) and locked themselves away in a remote farm style studio in Scarborough at the end of last year. The decision to do so proved fruitful as they offloaded all the new songs they’d been carrying around with them in their heads for the last year of touring, resulting in ‘News And Tributes’ being laid down in only 6 weeks.

I was listening to this in the car this morning... yeah, it's a bit slow. Haven't gotten too far into it. The quality seemed kinda strange... lots of pops, but then again, I shouldn't complain about free shit, right?

Was listening to this last night. Not as immediate as the debut, but I get the feeling it will grow nicely on me

Is the recording real muddy on this for everyone, or did I just get a hold of some tainted MP3s?

Yeah, sounds like the initial leak was at 128 or less, possibly not mastered (like, seems like it could be a quick board mixdown) and then someone redid it in audacity, but at 192.

I like about half of it quite a lot, but I'm looking forward to hearing a proper release.

If it's more "Decent Days and Nights" and less "Carnival Kids" or "La Garage" I'll probably like it.

To me The Futureheads have loads of potential but then make their songs so repetitive and same-y that I end up sick of them after about two songs. Same goes for Field Music.

The slower pace really surprised me, because live, they're even faster and just tight as all get out. I need some time to decide about this one.
