i don't know what's in it, but as a straight guy I stick to what I know.

Beer.

Whiskey.

Tequila.

Scotch.

no mixing involved, occasionally on the rocks.

I do make martinis and bloody marys in the privacy of my own residence.

Vodka Gimlet recipe

Scale ingredients to servings
1 oz lime juice
1 1/2 oz vodka
1 tsp powdered sugar

Stir all ingredients with ice, strain into a cocktail glass, and serve.

sounds good, but I'm pretty sure someone would kick my ass on G.P. for ordering this at a bar.

come to think of it, I would kick my OWN ass on G.P. for ordering this at a bar. But i've got all the ingredients here, I'll make one for deena, she's had a hard day at work. And I'll have to taste it to make sure it's not horrible.

doesn't sound bad but if you're going to have a strong drink with sugar and limes, why not have a caipirinha or a mojito instead.

no powdered sugar in this recipe, but i don't have rose's... that's the sweet green bug juice lookin shit, right?

VODKA GIMLET SPRITZER

1 1/2 ounces (1 jigger) vodka
1 ounce (2 pony) Rose's lime juice
1 tablespoon fresh lime juice
Chilled seltzer or club soda
1 lime slice for garnish

In a tall glass combine the vodka , the Rose's lime juice, the fresh lime juice, and 4 ice cubes. Fill the glass with the seltzer and stir the drink. Garnish it with the lime slice.

Gimlets a good drink. I made many more of them than you would think during my day. More Gimlets than Gibsons actually, but I NEVER put sugar in mine. Vodka/Gin, splash of Rose's Lime, twist of lime.

Gibson is a martini with onions, essentially. USUALLY served over ice, but can be strained.

Gimlets are good, but I skip the sugar and go straight for vodka and tonic. Or gin and tonic.

I just do the Vodka tonic with Lime, then you avoid the sugar.
The Vodka Gimlet Spritzer could work, but I'd never order it at a bar.
With this appreciation are we talking strictly on top shelf vodka like Grey Goose or Belvedere or are you showing some love for Skol too.

a caiparhina (sic) is effectively a mojito but made with cacacha (ca-sa-shuh) which is a sugar-based alcohol from brazi that's like 140 proof. VERY strong and VERY good.

Yeah that's about right... except mojitos also have mint leaves. I was going to make them if we'd had the obners over for dinner one night. I should have made them anyway one night. Drink 'em if you go to Fogo de Chao again.

Mojitos are some good stuff, I agree. Never had the caipirinha before. If we're talking gin/vodka and old man drinks, can't go wrong with a Greyhound, ha! :D

Damn, y'all are making me want to DRRRRRRRRR-INK!

I'm debating about whether or not I should stop off at the bar before I ride home again or just hurry home and drink a bottle of wine.
I'll probably ride home, since I don't really want to withdraw more drinking money before the weekend.

Ha, drinking and biking... now that's an experience. And I've been told you can still get a ticket for that!

Where was that?

Um, sir, do you know how fast you were going? Yeah, 7 mph in a 35, and that's fine and all, but have you been drinking? No? Then you're intentionally plowing the pavement under...
