1. Locke (because his character was the most interesting at first, and it was pretty bizarre/surprising)

I guess the Claire one just wasn't very memorable for me, but I did like the "psychic" guy.

the Michael backstory was the first episode i ever saw and it really drew me into the show.

don't really feel like ranking them, i kind of like all the backstorys.

this is a great topic, but i feel like if I ranked them they'd show some crazy new backstory that would negate my choices. so no. But Eko's is pretty far up there. I rewatched some Oz last night just to remind myself how awesome he was in that.

Yeah, that's about right. But I'd swap Ana-Lucia with Hurley.

Claire:
-the business with the psychic and the idea that he purposefully got her on flight 815 so that it would crash and she would have to raise the child herself was really interesting
-also, the whole "the child will be evil if you don't raise it" drew up a possibility of Aaron being the next Walt
-and the flashbacks to her being taken by Ethan and freed by Alex were so huge

Eko:
-he became a drug dealer, his brother a priest, they fight, brother dies cause of him
-he's now a priest, goes to visit with Claire's psychic because his daughter apparently came back from the dead

Not much too it. Though I did like his plane being on the island.

Eko has a duality about him that makes his backstory so intriguing.

This, however, has died down quite a bit for me since seeing him in Oz. Instead of him being known for his strength of character, and being blown away by the fact he was a ruthless killer and drug trafficer, I can now fully imagine his dark side through Adebisi and its his new redemptive nature that's truly remarkable.
