Hey!

About 6 months ago I posted a reply to a 'Who would you like to see write a Simpson's episode' thread on the No Homers board.

I said some UK comedy writers should come in and I suggested people like Simon Pegg, Armando Iannucci, Graham Linehan, Chris Morris (now THERE'S a Simpson episode) and of course Steve Merchant and Ricky Gervais.

Everyone knows the likes of Matt Groening, Mike Reiss and Al Jean read and post on that board so maybe they read that and thought "Hey that would be a good idea".

i'm willing to give few the credit.

personally, i think it'll suck. i love ricky and all, but the simpsons had its moment in the sun a long time ago and really isn't capable of being good anymore. if i see one more recycled plot bit on that show, i swear to dog...

How if it's a different writer is it incapable of being good anymore? So no one on the face of the earth is capable of ever writing a great Simpsons episode again? Some one opened up a big box of pessimism for Christmas. I agree the show has dropped off but I still think with a different mix of writers it is possible for the show to see a comeback of sorts. Doubtful but possible.

Darrin- Groening is allegedly a huge fan of the Office.

I'd love to see Seth McFarlane do an episode

the whole show has just lost its appeal. more than a good script would have to pop up. they'd have to go back to being a good show and not relying on stupid animated visual gags as much as they have in the last few years. the shows entire spectrum of capability has moved so far over to suck that it can't even get back into the realm of good, i don't care if shakespeare, chaucer, and jimi hendrix reincarnated and wrote new episodes. when the ship is sunk, it's sunk.

i just think the simpsons is toast and that nothing will ever rekindle its flame...there's just no more wick to be lit.
