I take the bus to London every year. Because a) I'm scared of flying b) I'm poor and c) the bus station is nearer my house than the airport.

Those 9 hours on the bus just fly by. I'm being sarcastic of course. I always imagine a beautiful woman will sit down beside me and we'll get talking and hang out together in London and we'll fall in love and everything will be happy ever after. Of course this is just a psycological deception your mind plays on you to get on the bus. Deep down you know you'll be crushed up against a fat retard in a leather jacket who wakes you up at 4am in the morning opening cans of beer and thunderously rifting.

As if that wasn't bad enough after about 350 miles of being confined to an area the size of an A3 envelope you start to think "deep vein thrombosis". Panic will engulf you. You will think "If I don't get to move my legs in the next 4 minutes I am going to die". At that point the person in front of you recline their chair back giving you even less room. And I know what your thinking? Just recline your chair. But as soon as you do that the old woman (it will always be an old woman sitting behind you) will ask you in a feeble old woman voice if you wouldn't mind moving your chair forward, you will apologize and your back to square one.

When you eventually get to your destination and over come the nagging doubt that you left your walkman down the side of the seat of the coach that just pulled away, a large gruff bald man that looks like he lost his publicans license will charge you £8.50 for a cup of tea and a bacon roll at the bus station cafe.

But, hey, it's cheap and it gets you there.

Yeah, only 18 and done the trip from SoCal to T.J. quite a few times before 21 but not on a bus. Man do I have stories; don’t get into trouble with the police, the hookers can get real aggressive but won't matter how wasted you are, never.

You aren’t going to be on a tour bus like Green Tortoise are you? I almost made the mistake of taking a three week trip with those guys. Talked myself out of it but didn’t realize I hated hippies for a few years after that. That being said you might have had a easier time getting laid on something like that if you can stand the smell.

I would take a walkman if you are going alone, bus people are strange. New Years Eve on a bus will be an experience and might just end up being a blast.

Nothing to be scared about, bus people are just weird.
