You are correct, and I try to remember this every year as I give out cool gifts to my entire family and get exactly none of the things I asked for. Next year I'm going to ask for charitable donations in my name.
Dad: set of beer glasses with Irish toast son them
Mom: Embroidered slippers that complete the set of gloves and scarf I gave for bday and mother's day (this makes next year's gifts problematic, but right now, mama love me)
Bro: Gift certificate to Amazon and a wall map of S. America for his new crib
Sis: Spin magazine subscription and some mixes
Bro - in - Law: NHRA hat that he declared his best gift.

But alwys remember: Jesus is the reason for the season, nice mullet!
