Cap'N asked me to post this since he cannot from work.

So it rained like shit all weekend. I stayed in Friday and watched a movie or two, which was doubly depressing since I was out of beer.
Saturday, the weather was the same.. cloudy, 50-ish, drizzling. Around noon it lightened up and I ventured out for a 12er of Red Hook IPA.
Then the Neuros were kind enough to text me about a show, from out of town. I looked the club up in the paper, called for directions, and decided to go dispite the pissy weather.

It should've been a 15 minute drive, but my visor kept fogging up, causing me to raise it. Then, my glasses got rain all over them, and I could barely see anything. So I did NOT go there by anything close to a direct route, and it took 45 minutes. My jeans were soaked through, and I only found the place through dumb luck. The club is called Great Scott. It's small, the stage layout is piss-poor, and they want $3 for a High Life, but it was awesome to be somewhere other than my room, and to be seeing bands. Much obliged as always, Neuros. Yall takin' care of us.

This, Senator, is where I texted you about the dude wearing a cardigan under his member's only jacket. The HORROR. Then, the dude gets up and plays guitar in the second band. He feels it's a good idea to let the guitar sqeaul and squelch through all the quiet parts of the songs. He is mistaken. Three beers and three hours later, I tromp out into the rain and get home cold and wet in 15 minutes, as it should be.

Sunday I went and visited an old highschool friend of ours (L.
Kaseman), who is in the Coast Guard down in Newport RI. I got the full tour of his boat, a 200+ ft cutter. That shit was Awesome. He's docked alongside WWII-era carriers the Forrestal and Saratoga. I was in dork heaven. He then invited me to come back two weeks from now on a friday, where I get to be a guest on the ship as it acts as starting line for a sailboat race to Jamaica or some shit, out in the harbor.
The crew is allowed to bring friends / family. You go out on the boat (along with some local dignitaries), eat and drink for free all day, and then we shoot off a cannon, and all the race boats sail past our bow. If I can get off work, I'ma do that shit.

So that's it. Sorry it was long. Hope Obner's doing well.

-Cap'n

I could see him shudder through the phone with that text.

Lucky for all of us Squirg is the nice wee fellow he is. I would have at least vebally accosted the bastard.
