That's a pretty unique album...good too...now, I'm gonna have to go dag out my copy.

A couple that are kind sorta punky, but more poppy new waqvey, energetic astuff from as similar era would be maybe something like Joe Jackson's I'm the Man album. Also, maybe just about anything by The Jam...I really like All Mod Cons although my wife swears by This is te Modern World (i think she just digs the title track). Or, maybe something like I Just Can't Stop It by The English Beat. Or...maybe something along the lines of Nick Lowe, Labour of Lust is great and features his big hit Cruel to be Kind.

Or...you could always just pick up Argybargy and East Side Story to round out your Squeeze collection.

Their "hit". The other single from that album is "Teenarama", and it's a killer. The b-side to "Starry Eyes" is a tune called "Paint Her Face"--it's one of the best non-album b-sides ever.

OMG, Starry Eyes is one of the best songs ever. The rest of the disc ain't bad neither. Good call.

Right now, I'm listening to Corvette, by Golden Smog. Reminds me a lot of The Records (Teenarama). It's on my new comp: http://www.obner.org/bb/viewtopic.php?t ... 2e3e341a56

Well...I probably made it sound more exciting than it actually was.

Anyway. This was probably about 10 years ago at this point... I know it was around Xmastime. Best Buy ( of all stores ) apparently made some kind of deal with a distributor that had a warehouse full of vinyl somewhere, & they advertised it in the Sunday paper.

I don't remember everything I bought - there was a lot of junk in there. You walked into the store, & there was 4-5 folding tables full of cardboard boxes with albums in 'em. Right up by the registers.

I remember that I picked up the "Superman III" soundtrack, cuz it had a Marshall Crenshaw rarity on it ( a cover of David Essex's "Rock On" ) , & the other thing I can recall was getting the first two ( only? if I remember right ) Records albums.

All this stuff was sealed, & they were 50 cents a record.

I dunno what the deal was...never seen Best Buy do anything like this since.

I "scored" once thanks to "Teenarama". The "C-c-c-cola" line melted her :rawk:

Yes, she is. She even has a job and an Elvis tattoo.

When we met and she actually had a car that ran and enough money to drink in bars, I knew immediately she was so out of my league. But we all get lucky sometimes.

But, I still think she's wrong on the best Jam album!

OH...and that 999 album just mentioned is really good...so's their debut. Great band. I also like The Vibrators alot, speaking of lesser listened to 70s English punk bands. Batteries Included is a fine compilation.

For 999, I'd recommend Concrete--it's the closest to the Squeeze-ish power pop shiv's seeking. Not to sell the debut or Separates short--but I think Concrete fits this particular bill the best--Public Enemy Nbr 1, So Greedy, Break It Up, Taboo--all solid gold. Aces on the Vibrators call as well.

I forgot I already had some 999 on my computer. I have the debut and Separates.
