as long as we're discussing retarded non-issues let's get this one out of the way.

haha. burn that shit. saw a bumper sticker today that said something like "rich scum - the class war is soon coming to a street near you" burning a flag seems pretty tame these days.

seriously, these smokescreen issues are infuriating, not because theyre ridiculous, but b/c so many people choose to look past that fact and take them seriously. somehow this is more of a threat to national security than the 40% of nyc's budget that got cut last week.
i dont really like pol's that much, but at least biden got it right on meet the press this past weekend when he listed this and the gay marriage amendment and asked 'are we serious here?'

The 40% cut is bullshit but I have a hard time crying for NYC while the government is waffling on building levees here. Protecting people is protecting people in my opinion.

you will find no opposition from me on that issue. they knew for years that those levees wouldnt hold. but instead of spending the money to shore them up before it cost more than just dollars, they decided to do what they do best: nothing. and the immediate response of 'the american people will not forget you' seems to have been replaced with 'katrina? who's katrina?'
several of my coworkers got involved with the rebuilding [read: salvage] effort down there as part of a group that went down several months ago. one of them said that during this one bus ride from a staging area to where they'd be working, everyone started out talking about why they were there, etc, and by the end, everyone was silent and in tears, staring out the window.

I've got no comment on the flag burning, but I sort of support spreading the wealth that was Homeland Security funds and cutting back on DC and NYC's funds. I realize they were the targets in 2001, and still basically are the most important targets, but by funding alot of BS in those cities and ignoring threats to other cities, we're basically leaving major metro areas in traditionally non-threatened areas open for any sort of terrorism, especially domestic.
I'd personally like to see them cut the funding all around and audit more frequently so they know where the money goes a little better.

It wouldn't surprise me since Gary "Gerhardt" Lauck, one of the leading Neo-Nazi propagandist lives here with his mother. He did sometime in Denmark for illegally distributing hate materials.

I'm for the burning of bad national flags. I want to head a committee and make the people of the following nations do a "do-over":

Uganda

Brazil

Croatia

Eh, the Canadian one isn't especially egregious to me. I'm kind of neutral about it, actually.

That Uganda flag is AWESOME.

I thought the whole flag burning thing was settled in that TX vs. the Beat up Hippie case?

Basically, YES you can burn the flag, but no you will not be prosecuted if you beat the brakes of the guy doing the burning. Sounds good to me.

I hang a flag in every residence I have, usually first thing. I love the flag, I love what it stands for, and I love America...but if they pass this amendment, you'll see me on CNN, on the steps of the capitol with a gas soaked burning Old Glory next to me,[/i]

i guess if youre claiming some kind of authority on this because you've 'seen a lot of flags', you might want to ask yourself 'what the hell is wrong with ME?'

dude, seriously. dont fuck with a country that puts a blue death star on a background of yellow and green is all i'm sayin.

Dude, it's just a joke. Any authority I claim comes from my Obner card I got in the mail for .02 cents.

But yeah, death star or no it's undoubtably a hideous looking flag.
