Have you picked up Jpod? Chase mentioned to me the other day that it was out so I'm figuring I might buy it this afternoon. Everything I've read about it makes it seem almost like a sequel to Microserfs, which is perfectly fine by me. Anyways, this is what sealed it for me to buy this book.

Here's a bunch of other crap:
17m interview with DC and his editor

Doug interviews Morrissey

picked this up today and so far it's much better than I was hoping for. a return to form that's incorporating the impossibly weird that seems to have become more prevalent in his later stuff.

I am delighted to hear a positive review. Everything I've read has been saying "well...it's Coupland being Coupland. what'd you expect?!"

But now I might just put aside my bio on Andrew Jackson...

I love that Moz interview btw...best non-interview interview ever!

it's named after a computer glitch at a fictional computer gaming company in which 4 people whose last names start with J are all seated at a cubicle pod.

It's definitely Coupland being Coupland, but I feel it's got whatever hyperculture and semi-wonder that was so great about his first 5 or so books. I don't know, I don't remember being this into any of his last 3 books.

Oh, do you mean posts like "I'm watching my wife sleep and telling strangers about how I'd like to toss her salad"?

is this sarcastic?

and Patrick, I think his best book is either Miss Wyoming, Microserfs, or Girlfriend in a Coma, though I'm sure most wouldn't agree with me about the first and third.

I actually really enjoyed Girlfriend in a Coma as well.

Funny I just now saw this post... I went to a reading of his this past Friday. He said it was the last time he'd tour for a book. Always intriguing, but there's also something vaguely asexual about him. I haven't gotten the new one yet.

I love his books. Hey, and thanks for posting the Morrissey interview. He referenced it during his reading, and it got my curiosity piqued.

I don't think that's what he was referring to...I know he;s Nasty Nigga #1 around here, but a quick anatomy lesson will show you that you can *ahem* eat pussy from behind....

That said, the only Coupland I've read is the one with Texlahoma and all teh slackers in it..pretty god for what it was, and all the little quote things are funny, but it didn't make me run out and buy anything else.

Yeah, Gen X sorta hit me at a time when I probably needed it most, which led me to checking out his other books, writing, etc.

But, Microserfs was the book that cemented my fandom. I genuinely like his prose and descriptions, even if his plots and themes might not always blow me away.

Point taken here. I may check more out, just based on who on the board likes him.

Gen X was genuinely funny, but i think read it too late to "affect" me
