Kenny Rogers - "She Believes In Me"

That's a man's man confession, that song. And of course it's been covered horribly by way too many people.

Anything the Bee Gees did on the Saturday Night Fever soundtrack.
Yes, even "Jive Talkin'"

Fuck anyone that doesn't like Kenny. One of my gf's favorite CDs. Mine too. I grew up with that dude in my house.

I've never heard a cover of that song before. Who's done it? It's probably awful.

Ones I can think of at the moment are Roger Whittaker
and Tom Jones, though both dudes deserve props for having fantastic voices and not giving a shit about "rawk." The hideous one is by Ronan Keating

Pretty sure it's been done by others, just can't remember who.

Some are horrible, some aren't.

Same with John Denver. "Fly Away" is great.

But "Thank God I'm A Country Boy" was what caused his bad karma plane crash. That's awful.

They play this during the seventh inning stretch at Camden Yards every game. Now when I go to games elsewhere (which I've done a lot), I always expect it. I kind of prefer it to "Sweet Caroline" though.

Lots of Neil Diamond songs, though certainly not all.

If he had less love for schmaltzy arrangements, some of his songs would be more greatly considered by indie peoples. I have a hard time getting past his big-showman entertainer style. Plus some songs are atrocious, like "I Am I Said" His career's gone on so long there are many excellent tracks, though.

Here's one to get people annoyed:

Puddle Of Mudd "Blurry"

But I only like it combined with the video.

Heh. One time a girlfriend sang Debbie Gibson's "Lost In Your Eyes" to me at a party. And it was cool.

That was going to be my first response.

'I Think We're Alone Now' and Bow Wow Wow's version of 'I Want Candy' are my two picks.

Also, the first couple of Hanson singles.

I should clarify that Rogers never actually goes on my stereo. He'd break it, the fat fuck. But since I work in soft rock, that's a song I don't hate at work.
