Although I would love to test the physiological reactions of the average mainstream rock station listener as this song kicked in.

If you go to slayer.net you can hear the non-cut version.

I've got to agree with Dalen here (which is as surprising to me as it is to you). Your top ten is a load of shit. Melodies and songwriting -- boring?? --- yeah, ESPECIALLY when it's stuff like that fucking DESTROYER album. Listening to a singer with a one-note range, when it's something that's got the energy and force of that Slayer track, is ten thousand times better than listening to some plodding sing-song bullshit. It comes off as more of 80s hardcore than any kind of metal to me, which is great.

energy and force is fine, and slayer's certainly been doing that for a while. shit, they wrote the genre before you were born, right? whats interesting about this? do you sing along to it? isnt it the same shit theyve been doing for 20 years now? i guess its great, but that sort of thing just bores me. I downloaded the track and listened to it, and not once did I feel the urge to :rawk: or even to :rockbanana: .

if you like death metal and machine gun guitars, and ridiculous lyrics about what religion is (thanks, slayer, your insight is appreciated) and you dont think that its just a little silly, then more power to you. i dont really have much problem dissing slayer as I think they bring exactly one thing to the table and its essentially played out.

your quote just says to me that you arent into music as much as attitude and 'force'. which is fine. go with it.
