question: i need a pc to run a single program for school/work but want to stick with the mac-os for everything else. does anyone know about that "boot camp" software for mac that allows you to make a partition and boot natively from windows xp? if i pick up a mac mini, will it be reliable set up for both mac and windows? or is it better for me to just buy a $100 pc laptop off craigslist and just use a different computer?

I've got a TRaSh-80 in my closet at my parents' place. I hope they don't get rid of it. I think the tape with lunar lander, etc., is still with it.

I've used a few (first edition) Mac Minis at work (running OS X) and they have been slooooooooowwwwwwww. Like, open more than 3 apps and things get really aggravating.

I'm not sure how the recent Mac Minis run.

it requires a standalone windows xp w/ the service pack 2 (includes the usb2.0 drivers)--that costs $100 on ebay. it's kind of a toss up right now between the two. it'd be nice thought to keep the mac os free of dirty, dirty windows.

well, the mac OS would still exist completely seperate from windows... no part of windows would be running while you were booted into MacOS. it sounds like bootcamp would be a decent option, as long as it's reliable. just make sure you get an intel mac ;)

serious. it's only the intel macs that can do it. . .and because i'd only be using one program on the windows side that doesn't need to connect to the interenet means that i wouldn't have to worry about viruses. so. . .

. . .anyone got a copy of xp laying around? then all my problems would be solved.
