In my vegetable garden out back I have a few old metal garbage cans, which catch the rain water off the roof. as they fill up, I throw a lid on them, and use the water to water my plants on dry days. The water usually keeps pretty well this way - no bugs or leaves get into it. So today after work I go back there, and lift the lid off one of the full cans, and see something dark and fuzzy floating around on the top... and the water was a weird brown foam all round the lip. Turns out, a squirrel had somehow drowned itself in the can. Thing was the size of a volley ball, all swollen and putrid. I don't know how it got in there - either it was in there when I put the lid on, or it somehow squeezed its way in... anyway, I had to bury it in the corner of the yard, and then, since I didn't want this rotten meat-water to get anywhere near my vegetable plants, I had to empty it into the next lot.

Oddly, it didn't smell at all until I took the carcass out of the water... but then, it REALLY stunk.

It hasn't happened yet...but they shut off the water to our office building about an hour or so ago which left the bathrooms out of order, and that meatloaf from lunch is starting to creep.

Not today, last week, but I think it still counts:

In February our fridge broke.
Our whole fridge was filled with rotten food.
I threw out most of it, but put whatever I could salvage in a box out on our balcony (winter time in Canada = as cold or colder than your freezer).
Needless to say by the time the warm weather came around it was time to throw out the stuff on the balcony.
Being the one who cleaned out the original nastiness in the fridge I wasn't exactly going to be the one to clean up the box.

...fast forward to June.

*Polly cleans out the nasty food box on the balcony*

I took a shower afterwards.

I know. I was attempting to be witty and charming. In a "most disgusting" thread at that. <Sigh>

I did nothing even remotely close to this nastiness, but it reminds me of something that happened to one of my great uncles. A friend of his fell into a lake while ice fishing and they didn't initially find his body. A few months after the ice thawed and they started spring/summer fishing again, he and a few of his buddies discovered his bloated corpse near the bank. It had got caught up in some branches. They had assumed his body went through the dam and flowed into the river.

Time to bust the joint out, beachy?

My day to day is disgusting in and of itself..but I would say cleaning the toilet in my apt. down here that hasn't been cleaned since at least December.

I got to listen to people complain.

It sucks being a good listener. But I actually laughed at the last guy (you own your own business, you're doing alright, and you're leaving 2 hours early & you're bitching about it??. :P Yeah, people suck. Welcome to the world).
