I'm listening to a Winterland show from 77. Got to say this is doing as much for me as The Melvins are these days. Something about this season.

I absolutely rocked out to the Jerry Garcia Band double album the other day.

The grey one.

I now own both boxsets, as well as Garcia's so now I'm focusing on the Dick Picks, and live stuff. Europe 72 is my favorite.

These are the Winterland shows I'm listening. Excellent sound quality. And They Love Each Other, and I'm about to start crying or spinning or . . . whatever it is, the end result is that I'm going to lose my job today.

Is that The Closing of The Winterland set?

I picked this up recently. Slower than I like my Dead, but awesome nonetheless. Great for a slow, hot, southern night to be sure.

The second one came out? I got the Golden Road boxset about three years ago. I'd be surprised if the second set was worth owning.

It is. It has some choice stuff on it. The last few albums were duds, but when you look at the things at the beginning (73), they are amazing albums.

since it's not the "real" dead he'll probably just have a stroke.

Keyboard player curse? I am probably the only one who saw them with Pig Pen.

Saw them for the first time at the Hollywood Palladium 1970... a hot June night I think.

I hated the Dead for years.. stupid stinking hippie crap. Of course I saw them 20+ times... and as fate would have it, wound up with a partner who is a total deadhead.

Was listening to Box of Rain, and Jack Straw live from the early 70's last night (forced to)... hearing the Fat Man's yearning and too-fallible voice, and his plinky plinky treble guitar sound... got moist in the eyes for what's past, gone forever.

Maybe I'll just put on the new Sonic Youth and wait for Dylan's new one...

Jack Straw from Wichita cut his buddy down, built for him a shallow grave and laid his body down
