Okay, who can give me some recommendations on where to go next with Siouxsie Sioux and the Banshees?

I love this album above and I know that it's from her later period and "more commercial" work but I've never bought any of her earlier stuff. I have heard "Red Light" which in some circles is a classic goth tune but want to know where to go next with my purchases. It seems like her stuff is pretty uneven overall.

Anyone?

Some of my favourites -- Juju, Kaleidoscope and Nocturne. And I too love Superstitious.

With Siouxsie, "later period" is a relative term because she's been at it for 30 years. I like when Budgie indulges his tribal drumming side more than when Siouxsie wants to be pop. The earliest albums have some fairly intense interesting noise that's not necessarily "properly" sung.

My favorites are Tinderbox and Boomerang though there are some I don't own.

Tinderbox, Kaleidoscope, Nocturne, Through the Looking Glass is actually an interesting covers album.

I only ever had the Creatures' Boomerang.

Oops. I forgot to mention that I also have this:

The Creatures - Anima/Animus which came out in 1999.

Pretty good. Lots of electronica flourishes and touches. Are they still putting out albums?

Yes. And still touring.

It's funny to see Budgie and Sioux go from being pleasant, tea-sipping gran-n-gramps in interviews to unhinged savages in concert.

Awesome example for how to age, I think.

I love that record:
"Arabian Nights"
"Into the Light"
"Halloween"
Great record.

I also quite like "Tinderbox". It has "Candyman" on it (my band in high school used to cover it)

God, this band is soooooo under-rated.
Siouxsie is a wicked singer. They are just so creative.

I'll never forget the first time I heard them. I was in elementary school at a second-hand clothing shop with my Mom and "Peek-a-boo" came on the radio (of course I didn't know what it was at the time). It left such an impression on me.

Kiss them for me
I may be delayed.

I think Talvin Sighn worked on that track.

I remember really liking The Creatures - Boomerang when it came out years ago, but I haven't listened to it in a while. I need to dig that one out.

I'm pretty partial to Kaleidoscope and Juju, a couple early-ish album of theirs.

Really though, I do tend to think with a band with such a long career, hits collections are actually a good way to sample and zero in on a period that interests you. Once Upon a Time covers their early stuff and Twice Upon a Time their mid/late period.

Give those a listen and then grab the albums where you found tracks that stood out.
