My friend just showed me this, looks like it might provide some goofy fun:

It decodes the World Cup television footage into ASCII and displays it via the command line. I'll have to see it in action tomorrow to determine if its a legitimate way to follow games from work.

So, the resolution is too low to see what's happening in full-field shots, but close ups look great.

Try it out. Open up a command line (Windows: Start->Run->cmd, OS X use the terminal) and type either "telnet ascii-wm.net 2006" or if that's full "telnet diego.ascii-wm.net 2006"
