Flash is just a tool and can be used to a variety of ends.

That said, this is a little hard on the eyes. It's a good attempt, though, and by all means, keep it up. Maybe try paring it down a little if you want it to be funny. If you're going more for weirdness, make it way weirder.

I liked it. You've got a well-defined style that works and reminds me a little of Daniel Johnston and William Schaff. It was weird/amusing/short enough to hold my interest. Keep posting these.

It is early, but I too thought that was pretty damn entertaining. I like off the wall bizarre stuff like this. Catswilleatyou, you are one weird, creative dude.

One criticism: the background just had too much stuff going on, making it a bit hard to focus on the characters. You may want to try making the background a little more faded out and see if it helps a bit.

Did any of you guys watch the Porkchops/Bullseyeart stuff from several years ago? This kind of reminded me of that but less insane.

thanks

i asked a few people about the background
because i had thought it was a bit bright also

i tried using a filter to blur it out
but that is only functional if I make a flash 8

then
i had all kinds of trouble
getting it to work on the interweb
...
lots of people that are still back on flash 6

but there are other tricks I'm learning

this one ended up in such a big mess of a file that
any more additional changes are a big problem
its like a domino effect because
i went at it all wrong from the start

but ive started a couple more
much more organized ones now
probably spend a few weeks on them

I thought it was pretty cool. Loved the reveal of the bunny in the head. And IMO to finish this off (besides minor tightening) all you need is to slightly extend the "milk makes me dance" business - because that is a pleasingly funny/absurd pay-off.

And Gauchebag, how can such a delicate flower as yourself simultaneously be such a pompous dick?

Instead of trying to blur it you could just use less bright/saturated colors. Think slightly more pastel or greyish tones that still look green. It might be huge hassle to go back into the background for this one, but it's something to think about in the future.

OK, so looking at it again, the problem with the background isn't the colors. Those are fine. It's the thick black outlines as opposed to the characters' thin, lighter outlines. Generally you want the background to recede, but this is just stylistic/technical griping.

Honestly, the background didn't strike me as being a key issue with this. I was just addressing your and the Mayor's posts.

Are you a hall monitor? (rimshot)

Oh, I'm sure my monitor sucks a variety of bag. My Mac does, so it only stands to reason that the monitor follows suit.

48 (unlabelled) layers on just the main timeline
so i would guess into about 300+ if you went into the clips within that
then lots of just straight drawing that never got turned into movie clips

basically i fucked up
and had it all in scenes
then i found out thats a leftover function that i dont really want to be using
so
i had to copy paste everything into a new cartoon
and i didnt take the time to label shit again

it could have been like 5 layers easy

so yea
big mess

I thought it was pretty good. I am not the best critic of this because I know nothing about it. However, I didn't even noticed the background at all. I didn't think it was distracting or over the top. I actually couldn't tell you about the background. I really only remember the three main player. I do have to say though. i kinda got stuck on the rabbit. I was just thinking, "what the hell?" I kind of missed the first bit of interaction between the thing on the big wheel and the guy with the rabbit in his head.

When I first saw the bunny I thought it looked a lot like the costume in Donnie Darko.
