Seriously, what is with these women?

if a girl asked me that i would tell her the truth
if she cared (in a negative way) i would tell her the truth . . . i dont' think this is going to work out.

i can't fathom how she would care in a positive way, unless she hated expensive things. in which case . . . lets do dis.

No need to lie. Just pronounce it creatively. Give it a French spin. Instead of the standard "Ca-vuh-leer," call it a "Cah-vawl-ee-yay." Instant classic car status.

At least you got the date.

I've probably told this story at least three times but a few years ago I asked a girl in my office out and she responded with "Do you have a car?" and I said "No" and she said "Well, no then."

It was at this point I realised the What Do You Most Want In A Man poll in Woman's Weekly had lied to me because it said a sense of humour was the key to a womans heart.

Even if I owned a cool car I'd be annoyed at the girl for asking.

One time I got asked this and I replied, why, are you the kind of person who would base their opinion of a guy on their car. And she got all embarrassed and super nice for the rest of the date.

Cuz I may have driven a Datsun 310 at the time, but damn was I cute.

Maybe she was trying to make conversation by talking "guy-speak"?

I dunno. Women, I just don't get 'em.

Next time, answer her question with your own... "Are they real?"

It might have something to do with the stereotype that men are really into their cars, so she's showing interest in you by asking about something that you're presumably into.

...or maybe she's just shallow.

One girl was definitely a 'status symbol' chick, the other seemed genuine, but definitely came from a lot of money (summer home here, still living off parent's dime, etc)

btw, was joking about the Cavalier

I didn't know any chicks who "came from money" until college. This is not trust fund baby country here.

The Believer presents the beloved story, adapted for the experimental theatre... "The Williamsburg, Brooklyn Mouse & the Presque Isle Mouse".

She should have asked about favorite porn stars, brand of tools, or beer.

I don't understand the need to know what kind of car someone's driving. Maybe if you live in the sticks or at least the suburbs where cars are necessary.

I always, always, ALWAYS ask the following on first dates.

- Do you own a car? (translation: will I be getting picked up or do I have to meet you somewhere?)

- What do you do for work? (translation: is it more interesting than my job? is it a field that I am interested in? Will you be able to support me when I "accidentally" get knocked up?)

- Where did you grown up? (translation: are you going to date me for six months and then suddenly move back to Montana?)

Eeeek...seriously what is wrong with them? As a girl dating a guy who has only a bike (yes, he doesn't have a license) I don't understand that mentality at all. Could it be...that these girls are nervous and that these are just silly date questions? Maybe they think that most guys are into cars so they feign interest in cars for conversation-sake?

Anyway, lots of girls couldn't care less about a guy's car. In fact, I was quite attracted to the fact that my boyfriend doesn't have a car and is still self-sufficient enough to get around town without the use of fossil fuels.
