They have a new album out?
Did any of you know that?
Any fans?
Here is the AMG review:
http://www.allmusic.com/cg/amg.dll?p=am ... 60tr4uklkx

Sounds like a good'un. I have always liked these guys and am going to have to pick this up. And with the addition of Mark Greenburg (ex-Coctails), and the "return to a tougher sound", I have a feeling that this will be an album-of-the-year contender.

So, consider this a heads-up for an album/band that I have found curiously little discussion about around these parts.

Rawk.

Yeah, I've heard a couple of songs on Launchcast and definitely have it on order. Sounds very good.

It starts out semi-strong and peters out a bit towards the end.

Love these guys. Been a while since they had something new. This has vaulted to the top of my wishh list.

I remember these guys as being competent but rather boring and nondescript. I haven't listened to them in eons though.

Just bought it at lunch.
Will report back soon.

EDIT: I expect you all to be impressed that I actually posted something about this before and did a search instead of starting a new thread. I am.

So far:
Outstanding guitar playing, not such memorable songs.
Perhaps additional listens?
Not sure, but it is the least of the 2006 releases that I have heard so far this year. At least at this point.

They played at the Tower Records on Clark on Saturday. It was really good.

Oh, they are an insanely great live band.

Okay, so this one is a grower.
The songs and the hooks crept up on me and this is a really good damn album.
IF you pick this up, give it several listens.
It is pretty standard guitar-based indie stuff. Perhaps a bit anachronistic in 2006... sounds more like 1990 (pre-Nevermind) underground. But yeah, the songs are definitely growing on me. Glad I gave this one additional listens.

Remember when that dude mangled a salmon against his guitar and mic stand in the video for "testify"?
