# of albums liked / # of albums bought = music batting average

I think that depends on your definition of like.

Enjoy listening to whenever I hear it = .850
On regular rotation months after purchase = .400

define your own likes i suppose. or ask yourself: "Do I consider this album to be a hit?"

I think I'm batting .900!
But I've only bought 10 or so albums.

46/54 or .852

edit: That's just for 2006 releases. If you include older albums, it would be much higher. I bought a lot more old albums than 2006 releases and I can't think of any of those that I don't like.

are you kidding me?

i obtained over 400 releases so far this year.....600 if ya include all the various crap that appeared on my desk, that i never bothered to document in my purchase thread.

i could glance it over, but to make an honest assessment, i'd say 20%

I don't know, seeing as I preview nearly every album before I buy it to make sure I like it, I'm probably close to 100%.

IMO, its piss poor if you are spending $ and you like slightly more than 1/3 of what you buy

I'm an AL pitcher (former NL) who can hit just well enough to be used as an occasional pinch hitter.

Can I consider albums I'm glad I own for one or two songs but don't like overall sacrifice flys or walks?

I'd say I'm somewhere around the .350-.400 mark.

35/41 = .854

Only bought 3 albums that would consider to really be weak or bad: Excepter, Jesu, and Terrestrial Tones. A few others that are OK but I may not keep: Spank Rock, Black Heart Procession, and Junior Boys.

Mine was just a ballpark figure

Let's see what it really is

Here's the 2006 albums I've bought and liked:
Built to Spill - You In Reverse
Cheap Trick - Rockford
Justin Timberlake - Futuresexxx/Love Sounds
Destroyer - Destroyer's Rubies
Mission of Burma - The Obliterati
Sonic Youth - Rather Ripped
Paper Airplane Pilots - Western Automatic Music
Three Fifths - It's Worth it For the Rumors

Purchased 2006 albums I didn't like:
Frank Black - Fast Man Raider Man
Minus 5 - Gun Club
Mars Volta - Amputechture
Wolfmother - S/T
Yeah Yeah Yeahs - Show Your Bones
Razorlight - S/T
Robert Pollard - From a Compound Eye

8/15 for about 52%, but two of them were my own label's releases, which don't really count.

I've also downloaded and really liked YLT and TVoTR and I kind of like the Magic Numbers album. Also, at least 3 of the 5 albums I bought yesterday (M. Ward, Hold Steady and Loose Fur) are sounding really good.

I'm not sure how many I have actually purchased this year, but of the amount of albums I have received, I would say about anywhere from a .666 to a .750, and that is being conservative.

This is pretty much correct for me too, but then I remembered the Isobell Campbell & Mark Lanegan album I bought. So I grounded back to the pitcher once.

Somewhere between 0.812 and 0.875.

There's only one I bought and dislike. But there's two I bought, was quite disappointed in, and haven't really played again.
