I didn't see Julia Roberts listed in the visual credits. Looks like she's the only one that realized that a third one of these was/is a bad career move.

I don't think it's a bad career move so much as we just want more money.

The first one is great, one of those movies you can pop into at any point and be completely entertained.

I've only seen the second one once and can't even remember if it was good or not.

the second one was one of those movies where you can tell the actors were all there to have fun, but they forgot to make it any good. i'm sure a third will be along the same lines.

#1 was great, #2 sucked

It was reported that the main actors really disliked #2, so have gotten back to what made things fun in #1 on this, the third installment

...as opposed to, I don't know, making an original movie?

Yeah, I'm not a big fan of remaking supposedly classic films and I really hate it when they make a sequel to a film remake that never actually had a sequel. It's a blatant bastardization of somebody's original work.

A sidenote about the 2nd one:

When I was in Amsterdam last year we hung out at the Dampkring "coffee shop" quite a bit and one scene from the movie was filmed in there. They had the scene playing over and over on a couple small flat screens plus several pictures of Damon, Clooney, and Pitt just hanging out there during takes. Great joint (pun intended).

PS- if you're ever there, the silver haze is fantastic

That would not apply, it was a movie based on a supposedly classic tv show. I tend to avoid any film that is based on a tv show, because I have seen so many of them and failed to learn my lesson.
