so there's this band called the advantage that plays nintendo game music--interesting but no the point of the post. i was listening to some of their covers and realized that the best nes theme music ever was for the game "blaster master". period.

I saw The Advantage open up for Pinback in San Francisco two octobers ago. The music is cool and brings back the same nostalgia I feel when I see things like a preview for the transformers movie that's coming out. However, some dude in the crowd kept yelling, in between every one of their songs, a different theme song to play. Like, "Contra level 5 boss". I thought it was funny because they were a novelty band but they got really uppity and said, "seriously guy, we're a professional band. It's not funny anymore". They got a big eye roll from me. Not to mention after about the third song it got really old live.

I have always been partial to Mega Man and/or Mario Brothers.

How weird. I was reading a review of something that they just put out in the new Skyscraper today, and was going to do a little searchy poo for them. Cool stuff. More a novelty, but cool nonetheless.

The best video game music ever is Zelda. And if anyone tries to argue, I'll punch him in the face.

I'd kick that dude in the balls.

and the underworld level from super mario has the greatest theme ever.

yeah you're right, it is music related. and i still hold that

master blaster

beats

zelda

(each of those takes you to a page where you can hear the midi file -- look for the link on the work "here" on the destination page)

edit: and by the way, hours of time to be wasted at the video game music archive (for you guys who can't get enough of your wife/gf rolling her eyes at you)
