Another thread from Cap'N via email:

First, my camera card reader is at home, so I can't show you the pics I
got yet, but I'll fix that as soon as I can. There's some decent
action shots from the bars and the ballpark.

We got in to my friend Matt's place in Queens Friday night at about
9:30, I think, with every intention of staying in. But we decided to
go out and get some late food, and that turned into a bar visit, which
turned into my first of several bad nights of "sleep." I didn't eat
much, so I was surprisingly hung over Saturday morning. Plus my buddy
Matt doesn't really have any a/c in the guest room, so we had to open
the window (ground floor) and listen to people yelling at each other
all night, followed by the recycling trucks in the morning. I haven't
been around that much smoke in a long time since Madison went smoke-
free, and my lungs were feelin' it, girl. Saw my first True NYC
Stereotype: Italian market owner rushes out from store to yell after a
customer, "Hey whassamatta you, eh?" with his arms spread wide,
sounding exactly like Luigi from Mario Brothers.

Matt made us a great breakfast, but wasn't feeling too well, so First
Mate and I got up and out and went into Manhattan, looking for cool
boutique stores to inspire the one she's opening baqck at home soon. I
saw a lot of town that way, just walking. It was really hot, and the
sidewalk vendors started pissing me off - taking up so goddam much
room. My god I would've killed for some Gold Bond. Second True
Stereotype: $5 pirated DVD's alllll over the place. Oh and rude people.

Then we got back and changed for OPA's Big Gay Greek Night Out. I kid,
Chris - It wasn't really gay at all. But it sure as hell was greek,
and delicious at that. First we had some drinks at the World's Most
Inept Bar...
- Ordered: Stella Artois, Jack & Coke, Pilsner Urquell, and a Sam
Adams I think.
- Received: Some random beer, Jack & Coke, Paulaner, and a Heinekin?
She went 1 for 4. And this is a coctail waitress, in an almost empty
bar, with no loud music to obscure things. I even had to ask for a
wheat beer glass for the Paulaner, and what I got was an 8-oz little
Mojito-lookin thing that wouldn't hold 1/2 the beer, much less a
lemon. Eh.

Dinner was awesome - I finally met Aaron, as well as surprise guest
Matt the Lemur. OPA ordered in greek. And then we went back to that
bar again for a little while. The music began to go steeply downhill
into Santana Territory, and I'm pretty sure we got WAY overcharged,
with some drinks being double between tabs. Fuck 'em. We then went to
a much better place and proceeded to overdrink. Katie finally got
there, ratcheting things up a notch. OPA kept sending rounds of mixed
shots at us, ensuring a good time now, and a bad time tomorrow. And
sure enough, OPA was m.i.a. for wiffleball the next day. I haven't
heard what happened, but I KNOW he didn't feel good Sunday. No way.

Then back at the place, we slept about 3 hours off and on and were
goooood and hungover for Sunday. I recall taking a leak at some point
and thinking "Man I'm still drunk, and the sun's coming up..." But we
soldiered onward and upward, delving back into Manhattan again. We
stopped in that crazy new Apple store by Central Park, where I logged
onto the board for about 30 seconds and wished Ayah a happy birthday.
Then we went to Central Park and relaxed for a while until it was past
time to go to Aaron's. I think we both wanted a nap really badly. But
I surpised myself by having a beer at Aaron's... I was pretty sure I
wouldn't want one.

Aaron's got a sweet pad. It's long and lean, but it has tons of window
units to keep it cool, and he's in a killer part of Brooklyn. The
World Cup was projected onto the wall, and as soon as it was over we
went out and tore it up on some wiffle ball. My team, Team Awesome
(headed by Katie), got up to an 8-2 lead early, and held it until the
bottom of the motherfucking 9th, where somehow The Quickies rallied and
won it under Aaron's leadership. First Mate and Shiv alternated on the
mound for us, and I caught. I figured it might be fun, but it was
f'ing Awesome. I had waaay more fun than I probably should've. I wish
I had brought some shorts. Aaron, I really may take you up on the
offer for another visit, with or without wifflage. I had an excellent
time - and I got to meet Cotton / Cottonelle!

Sorry for the length, but it was an action-packed weekend. I'll put up
some pics on Flickr tomorrow. Back to work.

I'm glad he had a great time. By the way Mike, I kept telling Megan that you should've come with her. It would've been to meet you.

Did you leave the feeling out of there on purpose? It would've been _______ to meet me?

Just kidding. Dude she told me about that trip literally two days before she left. I wouldv'e considered it if the price was right. But knowing what I know now, I would've stayed at Haq's.

Sounds like you guys had a great time though. We're talking about a NYC trip in the near future though. I'll keep ya'll posted.
