I bought my dad the David Maraniss book "Clemente" for Father's Day.

I missed the ceremony since I was giving the neighbors dog her pills. How was it?

A childhood hero of mine.
Despite being a Cubs fan.

The guy was just too freaking good, both on and off the field.

Damen, the ceremony was appropriate and long overdue.

They kept showing shots of Ozzie Guillen crying at the top of the dug out.

Fairly moving and it could've been more moving had Bud Selig not been involved. The man taints everything.

The clips of him playing and the reaction he would get outside of the US were really cool.

I didn't watch the whole game but the piece before the game where they showed the history of the Pirates franchise was cool. Makes me wish that teams with such rich history were better. I mean, the Pirates, Dodgers, etc. should be better.

Even drunk and watching great players I still managed to be deeply annoyed by Fox's coverage. Talk about tainting everything.

Senile McCarver needs to be taken out to pasture and shot. Buck is a moron. Can't understand a word that comes out of Zelasko's mouth, since she talks like a barking retriever.

I also hate ESPN's non-stop peripheral, pointless babbling over plays, but at least they know baseball. Fox people do shit like make fun of Tigers announcer-legend Ernie Harwell with no concept of how much they're pissing off people who love Harwell.

And they have pretentious crud like last night's opening sequence. And they have to "rawknroll" up every segue, clip and graphic.

If Fox can find a way to distract from the actual GAME taking playing on the field, they always do so.

Fuckwits.

Dear god please.

They were ravaging him on local sports talk this morning. Especially the bit where Brad Penny was hurling up 100mph fastballs to start the game and McCarver goes "man, Penny is throwing all fastballs! It's like Mark Wahlberg.........Catch Me if You Can!"

Nobody corrects him that it was Leo DiCaprio.

I will always love Deion Sanders for dumping water on that idiot.
