So, as you may well know, Defense Sec. Donald Rumsfield was in Iraq today. He was here at the base where I am stationed. He spoke to a group of about 500 mostly soldiers and airmen. After he speech, the floor was opened for questions. Guess who got to ask a question. Of course, I didn't get a straight answer, but would you expect to get one. The question; "Given the additional responsibilities put on the National Guard with the border patrol missions and disaster relief operations, what if any plan are being made about the personnel strenght of the active duty componenets, thus allow the National Guard to focus it's mission on protecting the homeland."
The answer, parapharsed to short and cut out all the bull; The National Guard is not being burdened. He never did say anything about active duty personnel strenght.

It's completely pointless asking any politician any question.

Mr. Rumsfeld, the National Guard in my state has been a tad burdened. Yes, that's a fact I can attest to firsthand. Plus their equipment winds up staying in Iraq for the next tours and they don't have the money to replace it back home.

Donny doesn't like being irritated with pesky realities.

Hey, at least you were able to ask a question without being shot.

There's democracy for you, ingrate.
