Ok here is the deal. Way back when, I was a huge At The Drive In fan. They broke up and I was not a fan of Sparta or Mars Volta at all. I saw Sparta and Josh Rouse play together (yeah - weird combo) and Sparta freakin kicked my ass.

They have a new album coming out called "Threes" and have posted a new song on their MySpace account. Upon first listen - Its decent. The song is called Taking Back Control,"

just finished listening to the new album. is it ok that i like this? it sounds so corporate at times but some songs are really well-crafted.

sparta totally kicked my ass the first time i saw them, well before their first record came out. and since then they seemed to have broken my heart by going so corporate, though if enough folks vouch for the songwriting perhaps i'll give them another listen.
currently, they fall into the "band with potential that somehow inexplicably blew it" category, cause when i first saw them they rocked so good....

i thought his blindingly hot sister was the lead singer.
