Chris Isaak "Baby Did A Bad Bad Thing"
from Forever Blue (1995)
also on Eyes Wide Shut soundtrack

Menacing and evil little song. Rockabilly's underbelly masquerading as pop music. Tremendous vocal. Should have been a bigger hit. Elvis Orbison Thorogood skulking at a crime scene.

You ever love someone so much you thought your little heart was gonna break in two?
I didn't think so.
You ever tried with all your heart and soul to get you lover back to you?
I wanna hope so.
You ever pray with all your heart and soul just to watch her walk away?

Baby did a bad bad thing, baby did a bad bad thing.
Baby did a bad bad thing, feel like crying, feel like crying.

You ever toss and turn your lying awake and thinking about the one you love?
I don't think so.
You ever close your eyes your making believe your holding the one your dreaming of?
Well if you say so.
It hurts so bad when you finally know just how low, low, low, low, low, she'll go.

Baby did a bad bad thing, baby did a bad bad thing.
Baby did a bad bad thing, feel like crying, feel like crying.

Ohh. Feel like crying, feel like crying.
Ohh, feel like crying, feel like crying.

Baby did a bad bad thing, baby did a bad bad thing.

I always think of Eyes Wide Shut when I hear this song. It's not a flattering association.

Thanks. I was in the library today, and due to the fact that Isaak's from my town, we're well stocked. I only grabbed a few (Baja Sessions and his debut? Damn, he was young back in '87).

But I'll have to go back for Forever Blue. He's ok. Not my thing, but I'll bet the chicks dig it.

Personally, I think Chris Isaac is one of those guys who gets underrated. OK, nothing groundbreaking, but he has consistiently put out high quality stuff for many years now. Guess he's not cool since he's one of the few guys out there that can really sing rather than just getting by on attitude. A little good ol rock 'n' roll all wel-produced and played with good songs will always get a listen from me. Shame he's not done anything for w long time now.

Forever Blue (the one with Baby Did a Bad Bad Thing) is a great disc and San Fransisco Days is really good too, not to mention his big one, Heart Shaped World.

OH...and Go Walking Down There is another great individual track off Forever Blue.
