Yes, I finally finished. Love it, hate it. At least respect (or make fun of) the fact that I spent so much time on this.

Wow, nice list. You put a lot of work into it, and it shows.

nice list, good work. it looks like the one i write up for each year too, except that i don't do as many albums and also rank shows, singles, videos, and disappointments. how long did it take to write everything up?

Nicely done, Andy! You pretty much blow my site right out of the water. In fact, you are 30 better than me. Lots of solid picks, too.

Wow, nice job! Haven't read the whole list yet but I'm suitably impressed. I only count about six in your top 50 that I have and most of my favorites failed to make your cut, but lots of nice writing even if our tastes are kind of out of alignment. I keep a much smaller set of mini-reviews at my site, based mostly on albums that I post about during the year, so it winds up in a somewhat chronological order for the last year, but it's not nearly as extensive as yours. Again, nice job!

Whoa, what a lot of effort dude. I haven't even made my top 20 yet, and I've been on Uni break for 2 months already. A few of those will be on my list, including ones I haven't seen on anybody else's yet. One day i will make a Mikey's top 50 to compete with Andy's top 50 though.

Hahah, thanks everybody. I started writing last Sunday night. And finished earlier tonight. So a week. However, I didn't write at all on Wednesday or Saturday...so really, about 5 days. So, a page a day I guess.

Before that, (and only Dri and Dalen really know) it took me forever to actually compile the list. That's the toughest part. That took me another week and a half. So 2.5 weeks in total, I guess.

Good work.

Although by reading the reviews I sometimes wondered if they were in the right order! Some albums in the 40's got better write ups than albums much higher. Or so I thought.

Oh and this line...

"Madvillain is the child of these 2 men"

Not unless it was gay adoption!

I'm going to write a review for every album I buy next year and do something similar. I might even do it for my Top 20 this year (when I know what it is)

Yeah. The problem with starting the reviews at the bottom of the list and working your way to #1 is that you start getting exhausted and run out of adjectives and anything witty to say. :(

This isn't one of those nutty lists where a certain percentage has to be by Canadian artists is it? Just kidding...

Oh well - I still haven't started my top 20 - I'm not sure if there are 50 releases this year that I'd feel like ranking...

Yeah I even tried to give the album another listen this morning and I can't get all the way through it.

Where's Blonde Redhead or The Walkmen, or even Tom Waits...three of the best albums from 2004.

Blond Redhead narrowly missed.

The Walkmen I didn't enjoy that much.

And Tom Waits, while being one of my all time favorite musicians, I never listened to the album fully. I downloaded it once and it was terrible quality, so I never bothered looking again, and just have yet to buy it, because it's still 17-18 dollars a lot of places around here. Tis a shame.

This is awesome! I'm starting to despise my list already... I had totally forgotten how good that Espers album is.

Yeah, me too for most of the year.

I'm already disliking parts of my list. Well, not really disliking the albums on my list...but angry about quite a few I had to exclude.

"32. Death From Above 1979 - "You're A Woman, I'm A Machine"
[Last Gang/Vice] [October 26]

There's plenty of guitar/drum combos out there these days. Ok, not that many, but there's a few good ones. But how many bass/drum combos are there? One. That is this band."

This is a massively good album - prob. in my top 20 (or, once I started assembling, I realized I should go from 50+ down to a top 30, so it'll probably be on that), but there are a lot of 2 pieces out there of the drums/bass/moog variety. Lightning Bolt and Neon Hunk come immediately to mind - you might like them as well...

Good job, informative mini-site....Kudos to you, and Congrats....

I'm just bumping this up a bit to point out that I recently purchased 47, 46, and 44 of your list, WEIRD. I'm not feeling the K-os a whole lot, but it's ok. I really love the Gift of Gab album though.
