Harold Reynolds, one of ESPN's most visible analysts and a long-time panelist on "Baseball Tonight," has left the network in the wake of one or more incidents of sexual harassment.

Harold Reynolds

An ESPN spokeswoman Tuesday confirmed Reynolds' departure but repeatedly declined to provide a reason for it.

Three people who work at ESPN and were familiar with the case said the cause was a pattern of sexual harassment, apparently culminating in a recent incident involving one of the network's young production assistants.

Reynolds, a major leaguer for 12 seasons before joining ESPN in 1996, did not appear on "Baseball Tonight" Monday after having worked the Sunday show, during which he joined fellow analyst Steve Phillips in suggesting the Yankees trade Alex Rodriguez.

In addition to "Baseball Tonight" Reynolds worked as a game analyst for special events such as the Little League World Series and College World Series.

Reynolds' role had taken on added importance in recent weeks with ESPN missing baseball analyst Peter Gammons, who was stricken with a brain aneurysm June 27. He recently was released from a rehab center, and his return date is undetermined.

Reynolds, 45, is married to Kelley Browne, a 1990 graduate of Omaha Central High, and they have an infant child.

i have heard conflicting reports about why he was fired. one said that he had a meltdown with producers about some of the topics that they were pushing for "baseball tonight" to discuss ad nauseam (i.e.; a-rod, yankees, sox, etc.).

I'd like to believe that. I'd like to believe one of the NFL Tonite people is saying "Terrell Owens again? You gotta be kidding me"

Rumors that he was reportedly walking around the ESPN office's, sans pants, saying things like, "Dis soff, make it hard" were unconfirmed.

Also, I've been wondering if Willie's "training" may have cost Big Harold his job: Image
