According to online reports, Zach Braff will be starring as Fletch in a new series of flims based on the character previously portrayed by the once-funny Chevy Chase. Here's the link:

I am genuinely excited about this!

Me too. Chevy Chase wore out his welcome in 1987.

That's not much less production than Courtney Love -- three proper albums, two (?) films -- and she pretty well wore out her welcome due all the tabloid coverage. Similarly, but not congruously, ZB* draws a lot of press from the likes of Teen People, Tiger Meat, and GQ.

Funny. I didn't realize Chevy Chase was dead and therefore couldn't make new movies.

Yeah, Why don't they just ask an aging Chevy Chase to do it again. It is his character and I'm sure he doesn't need to be paid that much. I think I'd rather see Chase try and revise it, rather than Braff. Don't get me wrong, I like scrubs and Garden State, but I don't think he possesses the same sort of comic genius that Chase had in the original movies.

The book they're making is basically the Fletch prequel. In the Fletch series, I think the first Chevy movie is based on the (chronologically) fourth book. Fletch Won was written after, but takes place when he's younger and just meeting his first ex-wife. It's really, really funny (as are most of the books, except Fletch Too, which is awful). I would've rather seen Jason Lee or Ryan Reynolds, but neither wants it (Lee was tired of waiting, Reynolds was too scared to touch the Chevy character). I also thought Dane Cook would be pretty damned good, too, but Braff.....I'm not sure. Braff doesn't have that twinkle in his eye, like Chevy did, where we all knew Chevy was smarter than everyone else in the movie. I love Braff on Scrubs, but he ain't Fletch. Hell, McGinley would be a better Fletch. If they make a Fletch Too (hopefully they'll change a lot of shit), maybe him or Neil Flynn can play his dad in it. Or Chevy, for that matter.
