So I was going to go see Hot Chip tonight but I just found out that The Sword is playing tonight too and I don't know which one to go to now.

Hot Chip
pros: venue is closer, it's a little bit cheaper.
cons: i've seen them before, i've been in the mood for them all day

The Sword
pros: have never seen them before
cons: further venue, costs more, i just saw a metal show last night

Also, they're both playing at SXSW so I could see one of them there too.

Sounds to me like you should see Hot Chip tonight, and make it a point to see the other band at SXSW.

Yeah, plus The Sword is from Austin, I believe, so they might put on a better show for their hometown.

Anyways, I told one of my roommates that The Sword are playing and she wants to go see them so rather than see Hot Chip by my lonesome, I'm going to see The Sword.

I like this album because it's the kind of everyman's metal album that people stopped making sometime around 1993. It's not so set in one tiny, tiny sub genre of metal. It's got a little stoner, a little thrash, a little power metal, and clean vocals. And some cheesy D&D lyrics, too. This is the kind of shit I grew up on basically. There's nothing groundbreaking about it, but it does kick ass.

I don't even think they played that long from what I heard. I guess the other bands went on way too long so they only got to play for about 20 minutes before curfew kicked in.
