I remember seeing this show when it came on but I almost forgot how scathing it was.

Wow. I don't know how anyone could agree to being roasted. To just sit there and have people tear you apart and have to smile and laugh about it.

We should have an Obner roast. Maybe someone like OPA! would be good fodder.

No shit, we actually discussed this as a possible podblast topic, just calling out sorry folks on obner but we figured people wouldnt get the joke (they rarely do)

I guess if you wanted non-ob people to enjoy the show, that wouldn't be very inclusive. It's be pretty fun though, if people got the joke, of course.

As for Chevy, I thought he's had a few roasts. I remember reading an article about the latter-day Chevy, and they discussed the roasts. The first was pretty much your A-list comedians of the day (friends and former co-stars) having a crack at him and apparently it was well-received. Then a few years later they had a second roast, except this time they couud only get some z-grade talent who really ripped him a new one. I guess ol' Chevy didn't seem too amused at the second one. I wonder which this one is?

chevy is the most brutal example of how fleeting comedy is. that guy went from being the funniest dude ever to the least funny dude ever overnight. if i was a comedian and red hot like colbert, i would stay the fuck away from chevy in case he is contageous.
