Does anyone else do this? I just started 4 weeks ago and I've been going 4-5 nights a week. It's been a great experience thus far, and it's really changing my attitude and lifestyle in tremendously positive ways. I will be testing for my yellow belt in about 5 more weeks.

Which martial art are you doing?

I did Aikido for awhile. I loved it. Really wish I could find a dojo that teaches it but that doesn't charge $100/month membership.

When I was about ten or 11 my dad MADE me take Karate. I liked it at first but then I felt weird being the only girl in a class of all boys.

I went enough times though to earn the Def Leppard album I wanted. :rawk:

I guess it's a modified form of Karate which includes a lot of aspects of Tae Kwon Do. The grand master of the dohjongg calls it Mu Yae Do.

The great thing about the class is that you pay a fixed rate per quarter and then you can go as often as you like

A bunch of friends have been taking some form of ninja (no, seriously), and they've all gotten in really good shape over the past several months. It seems like it's a lot of fun even though it's obviously extremely dorky to tell people that you go to "ninja class".

They keep trying to talk me into going, and I'm really thinking that I should. The only thing really stopping me is the time commitment and how that might conflict with a lot of other things. I really need to do something like that, though.

Somebody was just telling me yesterday that people in other martial arts tend to look down their noses at ninjitsu as not really a martial art. I can't imagine why that would matter, but whatever.

Yeah, I wouldn't give a shit about that.

"Martial Arts Snobs" are about the last people in the world I'd ever try to impress.

That's one of the better belts to get, because it's easy to match with your shoes and tie.

I looked around for Krav Maga classes, but I'm not commuting into DC to do it. Other than that, karate etc. is pretty gay.

That Russian martial art were you learn to beat someone to death with a shovel would be good.
