Some of you might be interested in what I feel are one of the most underrated rock and roll bands of the 80's and beyond,
Hanoi Rocks. These English-speaking guys from Finland had the bar blues songwriting nailed down and were major influences on later glam bands such as Guns n Roses. It's a little known fact that Axl Rose took the title of his mega-hit "Welcome To The Jungle" from their gritty tune "Underwater World" off of
Two Steps From The Move, which is included here. Hanoi Rocks' music were ahead of their time, not quite metal, not really glam, mostly boozy, bluesy guitar rawk with wicked harmonica and saxaphone solos to boot. Although I did these best of compilations some time ago (divided into their early period/late and solo periods) I always seem to come back to listen to them time and time again. A lot of their albums are
way out of print and hard to find so I devoted a lot of energy over the past few years to cobble this together.
If you like the bluesy swagger of the Stones or early Aerosmith then you'll sure to like these set of tunes from Hanoi Rocks. Enjoy.
