Its 2:30 in the morning, you only got 6 hours of sleep the night before, and your name appears in the Last Post section of 8 of the last 10 posts.

Good night Obner

Pfffft...that's nothing. I typically get only 5-6 hours of sleep on a nightly basis. That's why God made weekends...for me to sleep in. :)

Wow, really? I have to get a good 7-8 hours of sleep these days, otherwise I can't make it through the day.

I'm optimal at 8-10 but usually get 6-7.

And why did I just see Kev's face for the first time in his avatar?

I'm older than most of you, so don't gimme that "I'm old" crap. 'Sides, I'm a firm believer of the "I'll sleep when I'm dead" adage.

I rarely get more than 6 hours sleep. I usually go to bed about midnight to 1am (sometimes later) and I get up (by choice) at 6.30am.

The more I sleep the more tired I feel.

I think I average around 6 a night which is just under the medically recommended night's sleep. I wake up a lot, that's my main issue.

Yeah, but research has shown that "you'll sleep when you're dead" sooner than those of us who seek out a full night's sleep as often as possible.

I can barely function on less than 6 hours sleep, and that's about the max that I've been getting lately. In bed at 11, fall asleep within a half-hour, then up at 5:30. By Thursday every week I'm pretty much a zombie.

What's this obsession people have about prolonging their lives? Who cares? Do you want to be eldery for 20 - 30 years of your life? When I can't walk 4 miles in an hour, God take me.

Yeah, but that's 20-30 years of TV that you'll be missing. There's got to be a few good shows on that you'd miss if you were dead.

I used to seriously make fun of older people who got up early even when they didn't have to. Irony is that now, if I sleep past 7:30 AM on the weekend, I have to endure a day-long headache. And God knows that in college I hardly ever got up before 10. Anyone else have this problem?

Yep. I used to be able to sleep the day away. Now I'm up by 7:30. My body won't let me sleep late.

Basically, if you sleep enough to feel good, you are doing good, regardless of how much sleep that is. There is a ton of variation in what people need in a night's sleep. Since my wife left, I'm not sleeping much because I can't. I think that being back in classes, getting more exercise, and eating better will help me get back to a better sleep schedule. The cool thing for me is that I don't have any classes before noon this semester, so I will definitely be partaking in the Austin nightlife . . . newly rebachelored.

I knew there was a reason I liked Aural and KonstantinL - I typically go to bed between 12:30 and 1 and get up around 6 - And I sleep in on weekends.

Yeah, the gf is always like, "Why are you up at 8am--you don't even have to work" on the weekends. She is one of those that will gladly sleep 12-15 hours but then again, she regularly works at 12 hour clips so I guess it balances out.

Unless I've had too much to drink, 6 hours is about right for me.
