...would be so much better without the black dude mumbling bullshit.

guilty pleasure for realz, but man, this fucker mumbling "c'mon" 'n shit just sucks. justin has a decent voice, and the tunes sound like prince-gone-horny-stripper-club, so yeah, shit is pretty hot. but fuck...GET RIDDA THIS MUMBLER.

beats on this are LARGE, as well as the production.

see, i'm not too sure about that. his chords can stand alone, he don't need no filler.

I mean he'd have been labelled a pretender instead of real. Even if his songs had been the same.

He needed the producer factor for credibilty-building purposes on urban formats.

I've only heard two tracks off the new album, but, yeah, I find lots of mumble-shout to be irritating, too.

very unfortunate, but true, and that SUCKS.

a friend of mine (who shall remain annon) sells beats to Timbaland, and doesn't get credit. Timba acts like he creates all the beats and takes credit, but he BUYS a good majority of beat from other more unknown producers. People see his name on a record and are like "oh shit, Timba made this", when he really didn't.

Timbaland is just an example here :)

So Timbaland is like Joan Rivers except he buys beats instead of jokes?

Eww.

I've found that most of the Obner posts are mumble-shouts. Bugs the hell out of me 'cause I can't understand 'em.

Thanks for posting that Weller toon, btw.

I've been following Timbaland for almost 6 years now and I've never heard about him being involved in anything like that. In fact, when an artist works with Timbaland, he often ends up creating the beat for the artist right on the spot. That's not from the mouth of Tim's manager, that's from most of the singers/rappers themselves.

I know he sometimes uses samples and alters them to create some of his melodies and works with other famous producers from time to time, but anyone who works with him is credited in the liner notes (for example, Scott Storch worked with Timbaland for a brief period of time, their most notable track being "Cry Me a River").

Also, I wonder if your friend is aware of Timbaland's new protege Danja, who is credited as a co-producer on most of the songs on Nelly Furtado's new album.

Personally I'm just sick of this shit where people are acting like they should somehow have respect for this lame ass boy band reject to prove they are down with pop music or some sort of shit.

He's another prefab teen music hack with a mediocre voice who can follow choreography and has a big money term of hit makers constructing his every musical move, supported by more marketing dollars tossed at MTV than most countries gross in a year. He should just get back together with Ms Spears because musically they are esentially the same fucking person.

OK...now that I've got that off mt chest...the rest of you can continue.

trust this, Tim gets beats from other mostly unknown and underground producers all the time. my info is from a VERY RELIABLE source who is curently working on several projects with him. he's not slagging, he's just sayin', it aint all Tim.

Justified was the best Michael Jackson album since Off the Wall.

as far as producers buying beat, this proves that they didn't make the beat and it's unfortunate if they don't give credit where credit is due but it doesn't make them not the producer just not the beat maker/writer. Producer can mean many things, and sometimes it's just making sure everything goes well and everything sounds great. Puffy is a producer but often makes bad decisions, Dre doesn't make most of his beats but they are very often the best out there when his name is associated. I dont' like the idea of ghost writing or beat making, but it don't think it invalidates a producer.

i would never say that it invalidates them, but it's just a point that many people probably don't realize. Timba is an incredibly talented producer.

Somebody should do a definitive Timbaland mix and post it for us here at Obner.
