I so hope it's good. I'm really looking forward to it. I'll be happy if it's as good as SC&T, but I'll be ecstatic if it's more like Madonna.

I think the release date is January 25.

Maybe I've got this wrong but I thought the word was that they have gone in a completely different direction.

there are 2 other songs from the new record on their myspace profile: http://www.myspace.com/andyouwillknowusbythetrailofdead

i mostly like "and the rest will follow." that's about all i've really liked on the record though.

i like it alot, though not as much as the new Bloc Party - oh yeah.

The third TOD song sounds like 'Waltzing Matilda' though. i don't know if you guys know that song, but Aimaa will.

Another one I'm eager to purchase.

Chris: Everything I've seen for TOD says the 25th, though the UK gets it a day early. :rockbanana:

this might be a "so what" for most of you, but, i heard one of the d/l versions.

tod is from austin. endochine is from austin. endochine's lead singer was in an accident about 2 years ago when he ran into the back of one of the tod guys' car (nothing major).

the first minute or so of the tod track #4 that i heard sounds exactly like the beginning of track #6 from endochine's "day two" (called "ennui (excerpt)"). dunno if it is just a coincidence, but, it is one hell of a coincidence if it is.

Every bit as "anthemic" as STAC and Madonna, but nowhere near as dark.

I can honestly say that this is (in my opinion) the biggest drop in quality from one album to the next that I've been exposed to in a while (probably since The Jayhawks released Smile). To think that they actually plan to release these songs is shocking to me.

I won't be able to make this assessment until I hear the whole album but I will agree with you that Jayhawks 'Smile' my be the most disappointing release ever.

The latest Magnet magazine (Elliott Smith on the cover) has a pretty good interview with them which they say the same thing. That is between their boasts of tearing shit up and getting drunk all the time. Haven't heard anything from the album, but it could be one of those deals were it will be a love it or hate it with few in between and likely to alienate some of their fans of their previous work. Look forward to hearing it because I really liked STAC.

"Caterwaul" sounds pretty pop. They'll probably sell a bunch of records, get a new audience, all that stuff.
I can't stand the artwork on the record.
