If there was ever a group that would know the answer to this question, it's you guys. I have an opportunity to do a radio show that I would record at home and deliver to them on CD. I have a DJ rig with 2 CD players, mixer, microphone, etc. but what would I need to run that into my computer and record it - both in terms of equipment and software? Anyone know?

you'll need an rca to 1/4-inch (or 1/8-inch) hook-up to go from your mixer into the computer. that will probably keep it sounding good enough.

what he said. also, make sure you're running into the line-in on your soundcard, and not the mic input (most mic inputs are mono not stereo). occasionally you can run into wicked hum problems with this kind of rig (especially if your soundcard is built into your motherboard). if you do, a cheap usb soundcard should fix the problem.

Thanks for this. But what software do I use for the actual recording - is it Dalen's suggestion. As you can tell, I know nothing about this.

yeah, the software dalen talked about is perfect. you'll basically record everything to a big ol' .wav file which you can burn straight to cd.

I use Sound Forge to do the Hip D podcast, and Acid to do any multi track stuff.

I have a copy of Cubase, but I havent gotten around to figuring it our yet.

I think Sound Forge costs about 60 or 70 bucks but I had a bunch of Best Buy rewards certificates so it didnt cost me anything.
