Well, guess who's getting to see the new Mike Judge movie tonight? ME!

As some of you may know, this film (it's gone through several name changes, but is now known as "Idiocracy") has been in the can for over a year, yet Fox has been bafflingly inept in their handling of the promotion and release of this certain future classic. Although there have been rumors that it's a dud, those who saw the initial limited release screenings last night -- including Ain't It Cool News -- say it's absolutely brilliant and damn near as hilarious as "Office Space."

This IS the release date and there's zero promotion for it, not even a trailer. Fox is essentially burying it (instead of going straight to DVD, I guess) and for good reason, from what I've heard. AICN is the last place I'd ever trust a review from; save for a stray positive comment or two, virtually everyone who's seen it says yer looking at a complete steaming pile.

One guy mentioned you can practically see the financial backers pulling out since the production values get lower and lower as the movie progresses.

So, yeah, curious to hear your thoughts on this one, FT.

I went and saw this today and thought it was pretty rough...not too many laughs out of me, the missus, or anyone else in theater

the biggest problem it had was, it's pretty much the same joke for the whole movie (OH MAN, LOOK HOW DUMB THESE PEOPLE ARE)...and that gag just starts to wear thin after a while...this might've worked as an SNL skit that lasted for a few minutes...but at an hour and 24 minutes, it drags on forever with not much reward

I can see where you're coming from, to a certain extent, Shawn. The humor was pretty low-brow in nature, and certain elements of the story drug a bit between laughs. And it's definitely not on par with the likes of Office Space. But I also think there was a lot of very funny stuff throughout, and at the very least it's nowhere near as bad as the doom-and-gloom rumors haunting post-production have made it out to be.

Well at least the Fighting potato-heads looked great, so the evening wasnt a total wash.

That was a nice review FT, up to the judge'd joke. Haha.

i thought that this was the stupidest movie ever, and really, really funny. i pretty much laughed the entire way through, although i don't really think that i'll ever watch it again.

This is out on dvd next week, I believe.

this movie was a hot steamy turd....i cannot beleive i wasted the time to watch it.....
