I'm not a fan of Wolfmother, and I have a ton of respect for Mike Patton. But his criticism of them is LAME. The "what year is it" argument doesn't hold much weight after he just got done talking about his "60's style Italian record." I guess it's OK to make albums based on old styles as long as they aren't too popular.

I was just listening to that Wolfmother for the first time this weekend, and I don't think it's too bad, but it escapes me how they became popular here and a great band like You Am I never gets recognition in the U.S.

You Am I was briefly on a major label here in the states and got a little bit of hype. It just never panned out. I can remember going to Lollapalooza in 1996 and someone throwing out sampler tapes with 2 songs each from You Am I, Soul Coughing, Crumb, and Cornershop. That was a good sampler.
