previously i was only familiar with
his hanging mobile things that you see in
just about every large art museum
and i wasn't really a fan of them

then this last weekend i saw an exhibit at the minneapolis art institute

this time around a lot of his stuff really "got" me
but the video they showed was the cake
and i found it on youtube today
so you save 8 bucks

If PBS ever reruns the American Masters program on Calder, watch it. Like virtually everyone else, the only thing I knew about Calder was the mobile thing; American Masters showed there was so much more. Fascinating.
