Northern Colorado Reserve Punter Arrested For Stabbing Starter

Greeley, CO (AHN) - The backup punter for the University of Northern Colorado was arrested on accusations of stabbing his rival in the leg.

Mitch Cozad allegedly attacked starting punter Rafael Mendoza in a parking lot Monday night.

Evans police Lt. Gary Kessler told The AP, Mendoza was treated and at North Colorado Medical Center. Bears coach Scott Downing said he is unsure when Mendonza will be cleared to punt again.

Downing told The AP, "I don't know how long he'll be out because I haven't talked to the doctor."

Cozad, Mendoza and freshman Zak Bigelow were all vying for the starting job in preseason. Mendoza punted in UNC's first two games and averaged 37.6 yards per punt on nine punts.

Cozad will face second-degree assault charges and is scheduled to appear in court Wednesday for a bond hearing. He has been expelled from the university and evicted from his student residence.

Holy Shit that is amazing.
A former husker assistant coach is their head coach now and they have two husker players that transferred there playing for them. I believe one of them is the starting kicker.
When I went to South Dakota, UNC would beat us every year.
