This is a rather poor article from my local paper about binge drinking in my town.

Lincoln’s rate is the fourth worst in the nation. Binge drinking – drinking to get drunk – is worse here than in Madison, Wis.; Las Vegas or Minneapolis.




I find it funny that binge drinking is considered drinking five or more drinks is one setting. Shouldn't there be a time involved in that. Isn't there a difference between drinking five drinks at a club for a SXSW event that last several hours than heading downtown to your favorite pub and pounding five drinks in less than three hours.

I promise, we're taking this report extremely seriously, and working to remedy the situation, stat.

I'm surprised we are higher now than around the time I turned 21, since we now have a smoking ban that has supposedly diminished the number of people drinking downtown and that they no longer allow bars to give free birthday drinks or shots.
They used to have to wash the sidewalks after a weekend of drinking because so many people puked.
